Sticky notes were taking over animator, Jeff Chiba Stearns’, life from doodles to “to do” lists. His short animation, “Yellow Sticky Notes” is a film of self-reflection, using over 2300 sticky notes and a black pen to depict his life’s journey and the sticky notes that have caused him to lose focus on the worlds major events for the last nine years.

His self reflection causes the viewer to self-reflect as well. Time files, it’s scary. At the same time 9 years worth of accomplishments is fantastic, but we see how plans aren’t concrete. We end up in places that years ago were unexpected.

On one sticky note Sterns says, “Become more known for my advocacy work on mixed-raced identity than my film making.”

I hope my life goes that way, I hope I do more than I expect.

Reflect.
